Under the cottonwoods, Abiquiu, NM. This International truck has been parked in this location for a number of years. Drove by there on a photo tour last week and it was gone, possibly sold. I made this image on a photo tour in February. I superimposed three images from that location to get this look, the truck overlaid in a shot of its own rust and patina and a third of the trees above. Urban Aspens #2 Santa Fe, NM in the Rail Yard district. I thought the bare aspens would show my increased, hurried, anticipation of the greening of spring. I certainly like the way the stark bark works with the other elements. Thanks for looking. G
New Mexico Culture, Las Trampas Church, San José de Gracia on the High Road to Taos. A continual restoration and mudding project. One of the most beautiful and possibly the most authentic adobe mission churches in all of New Mexico. I visit this location about half a dozen times a month and I always see something new. I am always glad to see how many people get out of their vehicles to gaze on and explore this historic building. I am surprised to see how many people cruise into the parking lot, point their cameras out of the car window, and drive away having bagged another location on the bucket list. I am evening more surprised how many people pull into the parking area and leave, experiencing no further encounter with this New Mexico cultural icon, on the historic mountain highway route to Taos. Ah well… each to their own. Thanks for looking. G

Adobe blue and crumbling bricks La Cueva (the Cave), NM. I love finding that single element at a location which catches my eye and holds my attention and begs me to explore the scene further. Later, I find myself staring at the picture again, long after I’ve made the image, when I acknowledge the original appreciation I felt, when I clicked the shutter, when the moment came alive. Windmill on the Rio Chama Road to Christ in the Desert Monastery. I’ve spent many summers camping near here with the kids, and made numerous photo tours on the Chama River over the years. I remember when the windmill turned like a airplane propeller in the high winds and the water overflowed the stock tank. Now the rotor is tied off and the pump disconnected. Things change!
