Christmas decorations year round in El Rito, New Mexico. They’re a little more faded now, but I thought they added a nice touch, surrounding the doorway to this boarded up building. The main room has an intact, pressed tin ceiling and a solitary bare light bulb hanging there. All in all, this old dance hall (according to a local) has some potential for the right developer. Another local we met, proposed that we open a grocery store in the village, to which we politely declined. Anyway, as always, thanks for looking. G

Italianos Trail, Leaf, Rock, Lichen in the Columbine Hondo Wilderness. The leaf had landed here, or someone had placed it here, it doesn’t matter. When my son and I hiked here yesterday we saw many reminders that fall is on it’s way. Last week in southern Colorado we saw numerous groves of aspen, high up, starting to catch on a different kind of fire. I have a few days open if anyone is interested in photographing the fall colors on a private photo tour/workshop. Thanks for looking. G

Sangre De Cristo foothills, near Lama, NM. We caught the end of the day’s light as the sun peeped out from a letterbox opening on the horizon. Besides the lighting, the landscape was looking very lush and a little bit tropical during this summer’s monsoons. Not to bad for an area that burned 22 years ago in the “Hondo Fire”. I never miss an opportunity to pull over at this location near the Great Sand Dunes National Park and Preserve, which is just discernible on the right in front of the mountains. The hay bales add an element making the place feel less abandoned, almost like someone might be home. Thanks for looking. G

In the town of Estancia, New Mexico, a mural and windows. Spent some time here last year and enjoyed the town of Estancia immensely. Monarch Of The Hay Bales

Monarch of the hay bales, San Luis Valley. I firmly believe this is a Swainson’s Hawk, as it wasn’t sporting a red tail in the the next few shots after it lifted off and soared to the west. These bales were a field of wheat a week ago. This raptor didn’t waste any time ensconcing itself on the highest vantage point in it’s dominion of the farms and fields in the San Luis Valley. Mesa light ray across the Taos Plateau, New Mexico. Living twenty minutes out of town has it’s advantages. It’s always a stunning drive home heading north out of Taos to San Cristobal. We live in close contact with nature, the elements and the outdoors. It constantly impacts every day, for which I am very grateful. Thanks for looking. G

Valley Rainbow, San Cristobal Valley northern New Mexico. I walked out the door into the pasture and watched the rain and golden light traverse the valley under a forming double rainbow.
