Fine Art Images from the American Southwest

Adobe Blue

Adobe blue and crumbling bricks La Cueva (the Cave), NM. I love finding that single element at a location which catches my eye and holds my attention and begs me to explore the scene further. Later, I find myself staring at the picture again, long after I’ve made the image, when I acknowledge the original appreciation I felt, when I clicked the shutter, when the moment came alive. Thank you for looking and your appreciation. G

Windmill On The Rio Chama Road

abiquiu_windmill_3054-2273119

Windmill on the Rio Chama Road to Christ in the Desert Monastery. I’ve spent many summers camping near here with the kids, and made numerous photo tours on the Chama River over the years. I remember when the windmill turned like a airplane propeller in the high winds and the water overflowed the stock tank. Now the rotor is tied off and the pump disconnected. Things change! Thanks for looking. G

Reflections At The San Francisco de Asis Church

Reflections at the San Francisco de Asis (St. Francis) Church, Ranchos de Taos New Mexico. I made this image on a photo tour this weekend with my wonderful guests from Minnesota. Early in the morning, before the groundsman/caretaker swept up the puddles following this Fridays rain, the reflections in the water amongst the flagstones were plentiful and offered up a multitude of photo opportunities. Thanks for looking. G

On The Back Of A Sand Dune

dunes_shadows_2412_2413-4354031

On the back of a giant sand dune, Great Sand Dunes National Park and Preserve in Colorado. You never know what shapes will come as the sun sets on the great dunes in the National Park. I thought this one resembled a dolphin leaping through the  waves made by the prow of a ship. Thanks for looking. G
