Corral on the Volcanic Plateau, northern New Mexico. Made a drive today with my good friend and photographer R. David Marks. We scoped out some familiar locations and some new ones. It was another good day out on the road making images. Thanks for looking. G
Lake shoreline cottonwood, Colorado. I make pictures, more often than not I make pictures of what catches my eye and resonates with my sensibilities. This cottonwood at Eastdale Lake, appeared to be in easy repose, not fallen and decomposing but alive in it’s new found resting place. Thanks for looking. G
Formations in rock, the geology of Plaza Blanca, Georgia O’Keeffe’s “white place” Abiquiu, NM. Arches, buttresses and spires abound. A veritable, natural cathedral in rock. I can almost hear evening song echoing off the canyon walls. Thanks for looking. G
Fallen leaf, color on the stoop. Nice big thunderstorms this afternoon with a good amount of rain, sweet, ground cooling water. Sitting by the window, the cool moist air through the screen is very refreshing. Think I’ll stay here awhile. Thanks for looking. G
White Pocket, Wave, Arizona. Not “the Wave” in Arizona, but a wave in the rock formations in White Pocket. Yes, I know what you’re thinking… it looks like streaky bacon! Thanks for looking. G
Window light, shadows, in a downtown Taos store. One light source (sun) reflecting off three car windshields in the parking lot. Thanks for looking. G
Tufted Titmouse, San Cristobal, nesting in the studio wall with a blown out, knot hole entrance. I’ve been hearing the excited chatter in the studio for a couple of days now. Especially when the parents return with a beak full of bugs. I stood in the sun for awhile watching both the parents fervently, coming and going. It was hot today. It’s a perfect little nesting site but it concerns me that they are nesting in a wall filled with fiberglass insulation. I’ll plug up the hole when they are fledged. For the time being, I’m glad these two ragamuffins and the family were in a nice, cool spot in the shade. Thanks for looking. G
Rio Hondo, Columbines, Twining, New Mexico. On a photo tour/workshop hike along the Williams Lake Trail in Taos Ski Valley. The trail makes it’s way through the pines with views of the Rio Hondo. The cool air and freezing mountain run off in the river makes for a very pleasant photography trip. iPhone only on this one. Join me! Thanks for looking. G
