Pink adobe on the Colorado State Line. This abandoned adobe, abode looks like it was a warm and inviting home at one point in time. In the town of Garcia this building is tucked away across a field nestled under the big cottonwoods. Across the state line, in New Mexico, is the town of Costilla, mostly indistinguishable from Gracia, although I suspect most locals would disagree. Thanks for looking. G
Bus bench, trash cans, windows, Farmington, NM. Drive by shootings of building façades from the highways and byways in northern New Mexico and southern Colorado, continued. I do believe that the trash can on the left is for cigarettes and the bus bench is for butts! Sorry I couldn’t resist! Thanks for looking. G
Drive by shooting of building façades from the highways of northern New Mexico and southern Colorado. I have been putting together a collection of images, many of which depict façades that are gone and others that no longer represent their original selves. This building is just north of Taos and is currently covered in grafitti! Back then I liked it’s simplicity and hand made doors . Thanks for looking. G
Rust on rust, on more rust, on a Dodge truck in Bluff, Utah. I’ve made many trips to Bluff over the years. This rusting old Dodge truck has already outlived me. If my memory serves me right, it was there in 1986 on my first visit. This was in May, 2019 and it’s holding up well. Thanks for looking. G
Blue frosty leaves under the big elm tree. As winter descends on the valley, the shortest day of the year approaches. The frost builds and the leaves turn a lighter shade of blue. It’s getting colder and zero degree temperatures are not uncommon. Stay warm! Thanks for looking. G
Santa Fe, New Mexico. Downtown shadows on a stairwell wall. I can’t remember where exactly. Not like me to forget. Dipped into the archives again and I found this little item. If you haven’t been receiving my photo of the day in your inbox, I apologize. I think it is fixed tonight. If not please let me know or resign up for my daily post. As always, thank you for looking. Geraint.
Little white house, in the pasture, San Cristobal, NM. There were snow covered mountain peaks when the clouds cleared today. Pristine skies overhead. I just think, sometimes, how many days like these this homestead and it’s occupants have experienced. However many that is, the days and lives come and go in the valley, if only the mountains could talk. Thanks for looking. G
Rio Pueblo Gorge, bathed in morning light, north of the confluence of the Rio Grande. Mornings in northern New Mexico can begin in one of many fabulous locations. Pick a place and go there. Chances are you will be the only person there. Join me on a photo tour and I’ll share some of these spots with you. Thanks for looking. G
