Rio Hondo, Columbines, Twining, New Mexico. On a photo tour/workshop hike along the Williams Lake Trail in Taos Ski Valley. The trail makes it’s way through the pines with views of the Rio Hondo. Columbine, waterfall, Taos Ski Valley. We made a trip to Taos Ski Valley today suspecting that the columbine would be blooming. They were, gorgeous and pristine. There were many other wild flowers, indian paintbrush, daisies, shooting stars, and lots of water in the Rio Hondo. Temperatures were 15 degrees cooler in the mountains. Nice. Thanks for looking. G
Gecko Lizard, Plaza Blanca, Abiquiu. I’ve not seen a gecko here before so it was a pleasant surprise when we spotted him. He was quite a poser and scurried around to a few locations alighting on the top of rocks for his closeup. Thanks for looking. G
Curly’s Cabin, Ghost Ranch, NM. Gorgeous skies over Curly’s Cabin used it the movie “City Slickers”. Dropped in Ghost Ranch today. I’ve been here many times but today the clouds were exceptional. The cabin was glowing and the sky was blue, like only in New Mexico. Thanks for looking. G

Bricklaying, New Mexico style. I can’t say whether this is good or bad bricklaying. I’m assuming it is awaiting a finished surface. Who knows? However, it didn’t look out of place in Tucumcari, NM. Thanks for looking. G
Portrait of a friend, Stanley Rawlings, Derbyshire, England 1982. I recently came across this image that I made of my old friend. In the mid to late seventies this man taught me the techniques of black and white photography. He and I built a darkroom in his basement’s former coal cellar. I spent many an evening down there developing negatives and making prints, often ending the night drinking Stan’s homemade elderberry, nettle, or dandelion wine. I still refer to it as “Chateau Stanley.” Stan taught me how to see, and how to apply my vision to photography. Stanley drove a twin carb, Triumph Dolomite, far too much horse power for him. That said, he piloted us on many occasions, around the Yorkshire Dales, the moors, the coast and beyond. At the time I was using a Russian made Zorki camera. Shortly after that I graduated to a Canon AT1. This portrait of Stan was made on a pre WWll Rollei, Twin Lens Reflex, that spent more time in the repair shop than it did making images. I’m glad I got to use it on this photo of Stan. He’d be proud, as I am of him. Thanks for looking. G
