Exquisite Demise Of An Old Friend

san_acacio_building_2299_2302-2076777

Exquisite demise of an old friend. It felt sad when I saw that this building had collapsed. What can I say? I’ve photographed this place for almost fifteen years. I’ve had a sublime attraction to the place since the first time I saw it. I could never drive past it. I always had to stop in, and whether or not I would make an image depended on an unspoken mutual regard, much like making a portrait. When I visited last week on a photo tour, I knew I would return a few days later to pay my respects in a more fitting way and make, what for me would be, the ultimate farewell portrait. This view is only visible in it’s current state, never before. Thanks for looking. G

“Saguache Crescent” Newspaper Offices. Saguache, Colorado. On the road in Colorado for a three day photography workshop this week, I never know what we’ll find. This place was a great find! Loads of character and plenty of history, and a who’s who of those who’ve walked through this door and featured February 23, 2014 0n CBS News Sunday Morning. Thanks for looking. G

Piedra Lumbre (Shining Rock) Abiquiu, NM

Piedra Lumbre (Shining Rock) Land Grant in Abiquiu, NM. On a photo tour last week around Abiquiu and the Rio Chama we pulled over at a favorite location. There were many opportunities for beautiful landscape images that day, as shadows from the clouds passed over the scene. This big plant, not sure what it’s name is, made for a foreground subject that mimicked the shape of the cloud behind the red rock butte. Thanks for looking. G

Arroyo Hondo Morning Sunrise

Breaking Through The Snow Today

Arroyo Hondo, morning sunrise. Life is good in the pastures at sunrise in the Arroyo Hondo Valley. I spent a moment, on the drive to Taos this morning, to stop and watch the horses grazing in the light filtered fields. This is what light traveling at 186,000 miles per second can create. After spending five minutes at this spot I realized that the light had traveled millions and millions of miles when it entered my camera’s lens, passing through, as the shutter opened, to the sensor which helped produce this scene. Yep I love science, and being present to appreciate the moment. Thanks for looking. G
