Born In A Barn, High Road To Taos

high_road_barn_0593-3029393

Born in a barn on the High Road to Taos. I’ll keep it short for the next few days. Stay tuned for a change of scenery. But I have to say, the “key lime pie” at the Plaza Hotel in Las Vegas NM is delicious. It probably wont be the last piece over the next few days. Thanks for looking. G

Yellow Brick Wall Trinidad, Colorado

Yellow brick wall, on the road in Trinidad, Colorado. I’m not a friend of yellow, I usually avoid yellow anything, but I like the way it works in this image. I’m looking forward to a five day photo trek around many locations with my good friend and photographer Ron Richardson. We’ll be spending time in northeastern New Mexico and southeastern Colorado and will stop into Trinidad again. If you would like to join me on an extended photo tour/workshop call me for a date that suits you. Thanks for looking. G

Hawk Tree, Arroyo Hondo, NM

hawk_tree_arroyo_hondo_1316-8683011

Hawk tree, Red-tailed Hawk in Arroyo Hondo, NM. Our resident Red-tailed, frequents three locations. A high cottonwood with a view of the east and west valleys. This tree, with a more specific view of the meadows, supplemented with an old snag on the opposing, west side of the highway with grand coverage of the marsh lands and horse pastures. If these are the only places, then it has got the valley covered. I’m sure it knows more than I do. Thanks for looking. G

Moon Set South West Of Taos

moonset_pedernal_jemez_mountains_a7r_3431-2776181

Moon set south west of Taos this morning. We left before dawn for Santa Fe. Although we had to get up earlier than usual we were accompanied by the very large setting moon. It appeared stranded, poised to enter the “belt of Venus” the earths shadow cast on the sky, (the blue band) and Cerro Pedernal. Cerro Pedernal is the flat top mountain in distance, familiar landmark in Abiquiu, Georgia O’Keeffe country. We were flanked by the moon for twenty more miles before it vanished in the ether. It was a beautiful start to the day. Thanks for looking. G

Moonrise In A Sienna Sky

moonrise_san_cristobal_a7r_3381-1251801

Moonrise in a sienna sky, over the Sangre de Cristos, New Mexico. Life from the deck in San Cristobal. The moon rose powerful this evening, conquered and ruled the dome of the sky. The only time I have not seen the moonrise over the foothills of the Sangre de Cristo Mountains is when it’s cloudy or I’m out of town, and… weather permitting I’ll see the moonrise in the place I am. Thanks for looking and keep on looking. G

Cimarron Plains, Northeastern New Mexico

cimarron_plains_3352-8947735

Cimarron plains in northeastern New Mexico. Cimarron the town with the motto, “Where the Rockies meet the Plains”. And they do, as far as the eyes can see, all the way to Kansas and beyond. There are a few old volcanoes off in the distance, on the horizon including Capulin Volcano National Monument just to the right of center, but that’s about it. Thanks for looking. G
