Cottonwood rainbows. What the magpie in yesterdays image didn’t see. As the rain clouds moved through and the sun played peekaboo behind the clouds in the west, there were two rainbows, then one, and then a brighter one, and then two again. This is another view I had yesterday from the deck in San Cristobal. Thanks for looking. G
Magpie and rainbow from San Cristobal, New Mexico. I love it when I go out to watch a weather event happening and there is a compadre right there with me. This is one of the parents who have a nest in our juniper trees. When the juveniles started calling, demanding attention, this bird took off to take care of their needs. I stayed for sometime longer to enjoy the scene and watch the sunset and numerous lightning strikes. Thanks for looking. G

Boards with shadows abstract, sans explanation, save to say the smoke from a fire west of Taos, diluting any opportunity for a gorgeous sunset this evening, found me going through the archive again. Indian paintbrush on the slopes in the high country of the Valle Vidal unit of the Carson National Forest, New Mexico. What a gem of a place is this! For most of the day today we had it all to ourselves. The “paintbrush” are popping up all over the hillsides, attended by a multitude of daisies. The meadows are filled with wild irises and fields of grass, in the high winds, became instant cousins to ocean waves. A horseman riding bye held on firmly to his cowboy hat … and his horses reins. The church of San Juan De Los Lagos Talpa, New Mexico. After numerous days on the road in southern Colorado photographing birds of prey and abandoned homesteads we travel close to home and find some simple lines in the afternoon light on a “Sites of Taos” photo tour. Thanks for looking. G
