This week I thought I’d revisit some images from Tucumcari, New Mexico. I spent a couple of days there with my friend Ron a few years ago. It might be time for another visit soon. Maybe this winter for a change and to see what might have changed.
I like to shoot a lot of buildings and storefronts head-on. The perspective offers simple shapes and patterns.
Enjoy!
As always, thank you for looking. G

Love these pix. Wagon Mound and environs have fun stuff to photograph.

I know Wagon Mound well and was there two weeks ago! Thank you, June. I appreciate you looking and checking in. G
Great images, Geraint!! So enjoyed our photo tour. Will be editing images tomorrow and then some. Hope to post some new work soon on the website.
Thank you, Peter, it was a good trip. I’m glad you had a good time. Thank you for joining me. Looking forward to seeing your posts. G
Great shots, inspiring shots. Its a book. Makes me want to buy a corvette and drive Route 66. Course the ‘vette would have to be on a cross-over frame so that I can get in and out of it…then Santa Fe Railroad signs here we come.
I’ve driven a good portion of Route 66 west of Tucumcari over the years. Saw a bunch of Vipers one time. It didn’t look like they were having much fun as the road was better negotiated in a 4×4!!!
Chat soon. Thanks, Larry. G
Thanks you find interesting images in the strangest places

Thank you, Robert. I really appreciate your compliments and comments. G
Hey Geraint….very interesting/fun photos. I have occasion to visit small NM towns every fall when in that area Quail hunting & your photos perfectly capture the haunting bygone era when these small towns flourished & the Route 66 corridor was vibrant….really well done!
When visiting these towns I can’t imagine how thriving, vibrant and alive they must have been. Are you still thinking about Kansas? Let me know! Thanks, John. G
Love the Walkabout series. I like the broken window the best, but the store front with the pueblo inside is most intriguing. Thank you for sharing.
I have more! Maybe a second phase soon. The Pueblo window is a fav. Thanks, Bob. I hope you are well. G
I can feel the quiet and loneliness in these photos. The stories they tell.
I think you understand what I was going for. Thank you, Jo. G
An eerie stillness in these… quite thought-provoking.
One of my favorite types of street photography. Thanks, Gary. G
The long walkway corridor thing in Tucumcari brings me back to my childhood; When I was 11 or so my mom left her car door unlocked and her purse was stolen. We found her purse (minus $5) on the ground there but her ID and everything else was intact. I totally saw this and my mind went back 28 years haha. Thanks for that.
Hi Rick
It’s good to hear from you. I hope you are well!
That is quite a story and interesting you found everything but five bucks. I wonder how much that is worth in today’s money.
My friends wife’s purse was stolen in Pasadena CA. Many years later I was helping another friend and we found the purse in the ivy ground cover around the house. Everything was there except the money.
Thank you Rick. G
