Silos in Monte Vista, Colorado. This image is about the amalgamation of shapes and subtle colors more than anything else. That’s why I made an about face and returned a mile back to make the image. Thanks for looking. G
Big pile of wood in Llano De San Juan, just off the high road to Taos. Almost as big as a house and growing. In fact, all the wood piles are getting larger between my trips along the high road in the last couple of months, indicative of a potentially long, and cold winter to come. I better start cutting. Leaf Shadows in the morning on the tent wall. When I saw how nicely this image turned out, I said to myself, “I should have made a video”. The rustling leaves brushing against the tent wall made a soft swishing sound, the kind that wakes you up gently from a good nights sleep. Thanks for looking. G
Black Bear Valle Vidal (valley of life) New Mexico. From a photo tour a couple of weeks. It’s a beautiful animal and it was fun to watch him (a young male) turning over rocks and eating grubs. He was unperturbed by our presence, all though I felt he was very aware that we were in the area. Thanks for looking. G
Tipis Free Wifi, in the mountains above Red River. I was on a photo shoot and this scene was in the background. I removed the sign for the image I needed, but couldn’t resist one shot for the fun of it! Thanks for looking. G
Penitente Morada, Abiquiu NM. The storm clouds build and rains come in the afternoon during monsoon season. This building has borne witness to that fact for a couple of centuries. Thanks for looking. G
San Francisco de Asis Church, Ranchos de Taos, NM. Discovered in a rapidly evaporating puddle, following afternoon rain storms this week on a photo workshop around northern New Mexico, and as always a great opportunity to discover new views and angles. Thanks for looking. G
Ute Mountain field and pivot irrigator. I’m told it’s a field of the lowly canola oil plant, rapeseed! Ok … it was still a bright, sight of a surprise to encounter in the San Luis Valley, Colorado. The horizon and hedgerows held back this surprise view until we made a left turn at a four way stop intersection, headed east toward the Sangre de Cristos mountains, to a point where the road rose slightly revealing, Ute Mountain, the pivot irrigator and the field. Surprises every where out there. Thanks for looking. G
Portal Ranchos de Taos. Saint Francis “San Francisco de Asis” Church, Ranchos De Taos, NM. The portal offered a welcome respite and relief from the hot sun this morning. Oh! … bye the way, why not incorporate it into a picture? So I did. (Not the first time, though, I might add) Thanks for looking. G
San Cristobal Chapel Rainbow. The other end of the rainbow from last night’s image which was made shortly after this one when the sun returned to the skies. The torrential rains rutted the road in places, filled the ditches and deposited rusty tin cans from ancient dumping grounds in the woods. When it rains historical artifacts rise to the surface.
