Mabel Dodge Luhan House, Taos, New Mexico. Hidden in a dark corner behind the gate house guest quarters is this little scene. I like the simplicity and the iconic New Mexico imagery, ladders, arched doorways in thick adobe walls. It’s a real pretty spot at other times of year under the large cottonwoods flanked by the famous dovecots. Thanks for looking. G

One of my favorite places in Taos! I visited there last couple of trips. The people were so kind, offered me tea and to walk around, sit on the patio and soak up the energy. I plan to stay there next visit, at least stay couple nights . Love the history.
Hope you’re having a beautiful late summer! Hugs, Susie
Hi Susie. Yes you should stay there at least to get a of old charming old Taos. Lets hope you get there soon. Thanks Susie. G
This has a spooky feel to it with the subdued tones, the Private door, and the shaky ladder. If this was a movie, the audience would be screaming, “Don’t open that door!”
I tried to make it less scary with the links to the other photos. I don’t believe in spooky things and I’d be contrary anyway, saying “open the door.” HAHA. Thanks Ron for the comedy interlude. G
A special place.
Thank you Jamie. G
Hi who would trust that ladder anyway??
Nobody I hope. It’s for display purposes only, although it may have been operational at some time in it’s life. Thanks Alison. G
Wandering through your collections this eve… this image of the Mabel Dodge Luhan House absolutely grips me. We have stayed there. Have photographed all around. I keep having dreams of just living there for a short while. Absolutely compelling to me.
There is definitely lots to see and shoot around Mabels. Thanks, David. G
