Great photo! I enjoy watching the osprey at Heron Lake in New Mexico in the summers and watching the eagles in the winter. They seem to have a migratory pattern for this spot that only overlaps briefly. The osprey nest and thrive in the summer months leaving in the fall when the eagles arrive to stay for the winter and early spring. Heron Lake, El Vado Lake, and the Chama River have been excellent sources of food but that may be changing as ancient water contracts between the state mandate the draining of the lakes. At less than 11% capacity, I fear Lake Heron may no longer be able to sustain the osprey and bald eagles and they will move on.
