San Francisco de Asis, Moonrise, Ranchos de Taos, NM. Sometimes the elements come together where one would like them to. Photographed and painted by many artists, I never tire of another visit to this mission church south of Taos. A big plus when no one else is there. Can you feel the peace and solitude? Thanks for looking. G

The most photographed gas meter in the world.
As my friend Harry portrayed in the Taos News when he was the cartoonist there 30 years ago… “the most photographed church ergo, the most photographed gas meter.” Always a little dog present in most if not all cartoons. I remember when the powerlines used to be very difficult to avoid much like the ones at the Las Trampas church. Kit Carson Electric rerouted them for a movie Dennis Hopper filmed there in 1988. They, KCE put them back where they were after filming. I was so excited to get a few shots before they restrung them. The gas meter sometimes gets cloned out. Thanks for the reminder, Rob. G
So peaceful.
Isn’t it. Thank you, Julia. G
I really like how muted this is and being able to see the detail in the moon. Nicely executed!
The black and white works well at dusk, doesn’t it? The exposure for the moon and the scene were quite nicely balanced. Thank you, Ron. G
